Powerlifting
I love strength training! In the beginning I trained to get in shape and because it was fun but the more I trained the more goal oriented I became. When I had finished my Military Service in 2001 I started to train serious in the sense that I also toke other factors in to account such as my diet and sleeping. The more I trained and the more I developed and tested my strength the more I knew that I wanted to compete in Powerlifting. Competing is fun because it helps you the get more focused. Competing is also fun because you train and compete with people that have the same goals as you.
I train and compete at Sundbyberg Tyngdlyftningsklubb (STK). STK is a member of the Swedish Powerlifting Federation (SSF) and SSF is a member of the International Powerlifting Federation (IPF).
STK is a great gym that have all the equipment you need to develop technique and strength in powerlifting. The best benefit of training at STK is that you are surrounded with strong, skilled and goal oriented powerlifters that can advise, support and spot you when needed.
Goals
I have short and long term Powerlifting goals. My short term goals are:Squat: 260 kg
Benchpress: 160 kg
Deadlift: 283 kg (district record class 90)
Total: 700 kg
When I lift a total weight of 700 kg I would qualify for the Swedish Championship in Powerlifting in class 90 kg. All weight classes have different weight qualifications. These are set by and can be seen at the Swedish Powerlifting Federation (SSF) or click here.
My long term goals are far higher as you can see below:
Squat: 300 kg
Benchpress: 200 kg
Deadlift: 300 kg
Total: 800 kg
I believe that the goals are not that far fetched as long as I can train hard without major injuries.
